Marie Derycke - Dog Training Instructor & Behaviourist
I hold a MSc & BSc (Hons) in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training,
and a Level 3 Award in Education & Training. I am also currently pursuing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
I have been assessed and am a member of a number of professional dog training and behaviour organisations which set the highest standards in ethical dog care, training and behaviour therapy:
- Full Member with the Professional Association of Canine Trainers
- Associate Member with the Pet Dog Trainers of Europe
- Affiliate Member with the International Canine Behaviourists
- Behaviour and Training Professional with the Pet Professional Guild
Also, I am a certified Canine Enrichment Technician (DN-CET),
a registered Scentwork UK Trainer , trained in Human & Canine First Aid, enhanced-DBS checked, and fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary.
In addition, I moonlight as a HE Lecturer in Animal Sciences and have over 10 years of experience working with animals. I know that effective training and behaviour interventions start with your end of the leash. This means that helping you and your dog is a team effort.
My areas of specialty include:
- Puppy training classes, focusing on early development, foundation life skills, and addressing common puppy behaviours.
- Puppy socialisation, a vastly misunderstood period of development in puppy's life, which requires careful guidance and excellent understanding of canine emotions and communication to ensure puppies are well-adjusted and comfortable in various settings.
- Scentwork, putting our dogs' keen sense of smell to use to build confidence and a harmonious dog-guardian relationship.
- Enrichment, creating stimulating environments and activities to enhance the emotional and physical well-being of dogs.
- Anxious & fearful dogs, building confidence and resilience to help them enjoy the happy life they deserve.
