Training Policy

Ingenious Dogs' training is based on non-punitive science-based methods, which are both effective and the most humane. Our training classes and online content have been carefully created based on the most up-to-date scientific knowledge and our dedication for compassionate education for dogs and their guardians, so we hope you enjoy them!

Training Policies:

1. Harsh handling is not permitted. Ingenious Dogs has a complete ban on choke chains, prong collars, electric collars or other punitive techniques, in accordance with the PACT Code of Conduct, PDTE Code of Ethics and PPG Code of Practice.

2. New clients must submit a New Client Form. It is the client's responsibility to inform Ingenious Dog of any changes to their dog's and their personal details.

3. The dog guardian is responsible for bringing appropriate well-fitting equipment such as leashes, collars and harnesses, training food stuff, water and water bowl for their dog and ensuring their dog is wearing an identity tag (or similar) in accordance with government requirements to any training appointment whether in class or private and indoors or outdoors.

4. Recording of your online or in-person training sessions is prohibited unless agreed with Ingenious Dogs in writing in advance.

5. Photographs or recordings may be taken by Ingenious Dogs during training sessions for educational and marketing purposes after seeking the guardian's permission.

6. If your bitch comes into season prior to a training appointment or in-person class, please notify Ingenious Dogs.

7. Dog guardians are expected to clean up after their dogs when in public places. All dogs must be kept under control and on leash in public areas, (off-leash only where specifically instructed by the trainer). Ingenious Dogs' trainer is there to help but you remain responsible for the conduct of your dog at all times.

8. Children are welcome to attend the training session - they often make great trainers and handlers! But for the sake of safety and consistency in training, young people under the age of 18 must be with an adult at all times.

9. Where training appointments or classes take place in a facility not owned by Ingenious Dogs (dog fields, community halls, etc.), it is the client's responsibility to familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions and policies of the facilities and adhere to them and any other rules by the facility.

10. The client must inform Ingenious Dogs about the number of people attending any in-person sessions so that numbers can remain regulated and safe.

11. Training classes may not be a suitable learning environment for some dogs. If your dog is excessively vocal or shows signs of fear, this will be disruptive and stressful to yourself, your dog and the rest of the class, and everyone will struggle to learn. If you book on a class and Ingenious Dogs decides your dog is unsuitable, you will be offered private sessions up to the value paid.

Payment & Cancellation Policies:

1. Payment is required to confirm any booking made whether online or in-person. Payments can be made online through debit/credit card, Paypal or BACS prior to your session.

2. Discounts may be made available where sessions are booked as a package and paid for in advance.

3. Cancellations: We hope you won't have to cancel. However, if you are unable to make an appointment, please let Ingenious Dogs know as soon as possible so that we can maybe reschedule. Any cancellation with less than 48-hour notice will be charged at full price or you may reschedule with a 50% additional charge.

4. Where a cancellation is made with more than 48-hour notice for a course or class which has not started but where content is made available immediately upon purchase, a £50 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund.

5. No refunds will be given once your course or class has started.
